MISSION STATEMENT:

The North East Regional Law Enforcement Educational Association (NERLEEA) is committed to delivering exceptional education and opportunities to young individuals (Cadets) who are interested in pursuing a career in Law Enforcement. We will provide valuable resources for the Advisors who guide and mentor these Cadets, while upholding the highest standards of professionalism.

CORE OBJECTIVES

Our main objectives are to equip Cadets with relevant knowledge and experiences that will help prepare them for a successful career in Law Enforcement and adult life. This is achieved through a series of training events that take place throughout the year, including the Cadet Police Academy, cadet and advisor leadership training, practical skills days, and a tactical challenge. Cadets from various parts of the Northeast region have the chance to connect and establish long-lasting friendships. Our Cadet alumni have successfully secured positions in local Law Enforcement Agencies, County Sheriff’s Departments, State Police Departments, Federal Law Enforcement Agencies, Emergency Medical Services, the United States Armed Forces, and innumerable other career paths.

Professionalism, Honor, and Excellence

Our Advisors are dedicated to upholding the standards of professionalism outlined in the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics. To maintain this level of excellence, they undergo specialized training and adhere to the standards established in the NERLEEA by-laws.

Growth and Improvement

NERLEEA is a forward-looking organization that is committed to growth and improvement. We actively seek out partnerships with other organizations to help us achieve our goals. Developing new training programs and events is critical to the ongoing improvement of our association, as we strive to prepare the next generation of future leaders.

Financial Stability and Fundraising

At NERLEEA, we recognize the importance of being fiscally responsible. It is essential to the successful operation of our organization and the attainment of our objectives. We achieve this by implementing a sound financial policy, adhering to a balanced budget requirement, and carefully managing our costs. To further support our financial goals, we actively seek out sponsorships and develop fundraising initiatives.

Community Engagement

NERLEEA is committed to fostering community engagement. Specifically, our home state of Connecticut’s law makers have recognized the value of law enforcement youth programs as a means of strengthening the bond between the police and the community and passed legislation to support this initiative. We fully support this concept and believe that it aligns with our mission of providing exceptional education and opportunities to young individuals interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement.

“Efforts to attract young persons from the community such unit serves to careers in law enforcement through enrollment and participation in police athletic leagues in which police officers support young persons of the community through mentoring, sports, education and by fostering a positive relationship between such persons and police officers, the implementation of explorer programs and cadet units and support for public safety academies” CT Public Act No. 20-1
