MEMORIAL CADET TACTICAL CHALLENGE

The NERLEEA Tactical Challenge is an event for law enforcement cadet posts across the region, designed to challenge participants in advanced tactics and techniques. Staffed by trained officers and TACTICAL/ESU/SWAT operators, the competition features various scenarios to test cadets’ skills. Events include responding to an officer down, executing a narcotics search warrant, conducting a high-risk arrest, performing a high-risk traffic stop, engaging in simulated gunfights, handling active shooter situations, responding to emotionally disturbed individuals, and providing medical care in tactical environments.

The NERLEEA Tactical Challenge will also feature a unique event known as the Top Cadet Challenge. This event is not for the faint of heart and will likely involve physically demanding PT exercises that will push cadets to their limits and beyond, potentially leading to “muscle failure.” However, it won’t just be a test of physical fitness, as it may also include exercises that challenge cadets’ ability to think and make decisions under extreme stress.

To ensure fairness, only one cadet from each agency will be allowed to participate. The Top Cadet Challenge changes every year, offering new and exciting challenges that push participants to their limits and beyond. The winner of this prestigious event will hold the title of Top Cadet for the next 365 days, proving themselves to be the best of the best.

The NERLEEA Tactical Challenge is more than just a competition; it is also a tribute to the memory of Bristol CT Police Lieutenant Dustin Demonte and Sergeant Alex Hamzy, who tragically lost their lives while on duty in 2022. As advisors for their post, they were dedicated to providing the best training possible to cadets. This competition is a way to honor their memory and continue their legacy of excellence in law enforcement training.
