Tony Daytona (Spelt Like NASCAR)
Introducing the one, the only, the man who can outrun any story and catch every perp – Tony Daytona! With a name like that, you’d expect him to be tearing up the race track, but instead, he’s tearing up the streets of the Cadet Police Academy, microphone in one hand and handcuffs on the other.
Tony’s journey to becoming a reporter at Channel 6 News started at the Mayberry North Carolina Police Department (1960 to 1968), where he learned to chase down the bad guys and deliver a solid punchline at the same time. Rumor has it that he once took down a suspect with nothing but a witty comeback and a well-timed pun.
When he’s not cracking jokes or covering cases, Tony can often be found tinkering with his souped-up news van, affectionately known as “The News Cruiser”. With its flashy paint job and roof-mounted satellite dish, it’s impossible to miss him when he’s on the scene.
But don’t let Tony’s playful nature fool you – he’s a force to be reckoned with in the world of journalism. His hard-hitting reporting has exposed corruption, brought down criminals, and won him more awards than he can count (mostly because he lost track after the 27th).
So if you see Tony Daytona racing to the scene of the latest breaking news, don’t be alarmed – he’s just doing what he does best: serving up the news with a side of laughs and a whole lot of heart.
