Cadet Leadership Council (CLC)
The Cadet Leadership Council (CLC) gives cadets a formal voice in shaping NERLEEA’s future by serving as a youth advisory body that mirrors the NERLEEA Executive Board.
Its mission is to align training, events, and education with cadet needs while developing leadership, teamwork, and decision-making skills.

Purpose & Mission
The CLC is a youth advisory council that:

  • Provides cadets with a formal voice in NERLEEA decision-making.

  • Ensures training, events, and education reflect cadet needs.

  • Builds leadership, teamwork, and sound decision-making skills.

  • Mirrors the structure and function of the NERLEEA Executive Board.

Membership & Selection
Membership is open to active cadets in good standing from registered NERLEEA programs. Representatives are selected through an interview process that includes at least one NERLEEA Executive Board member. Each member serves a two-year term, giving cadets time to grow into their roles and see projects through from planning to completion.

Council Roles & Structure
The Cadet Leadership Council includes the following positions:

  • President – Leads the council, sets agendas, and serves as the primary cadet liaison to the NERLEEA Director and Executive Board.

  • Vice President – Supports the President, coordinates projects, and steps in when the President is unavailable.

  • Secretary – Records meeting minutes, tracks attendance, and manages council documentation.

  • Treasurer – Monitors budgets and supports financial planning for council initiatives.

  • Council Members (3) – Represent cadet programs, assist with planning and logistics, and facilitate communication between cadets and leadership.

What the CLC Does

  • Advises the NERLEEA Executive Board on cadet perspectives and priorities.

  • Plans and supports cadet-focused events and training.

  • Recommends new topics that reflect cadet interests.

  • Acts as a communication bridge between cadets and leadership.
    The CLC meets monthly, either in-person or virtually, with reports submitted to the NERLEEA Director.
