John became involved with the Windsor Police Explorer Post as a teenager, which inspired him to continue with the programs mission as an adult.

In 1992, John developed the Connecticut Police Cadet Stations Day in order to bring explorers/cadets together so they could showcase their skills within a one day competition. This yearly event is highly sought after within the explorer/cadet programs and was an event cherished by John.

After conferring with other advisors about the need for a program specifically for police explorers/cadets run by police officers and civilian advisors, John founded North East Regional Law Enforcement Educational Association (NERLEEA) in 2006. The mission of NERLEEA is to provide the highest quality education and experiences to youths (Explorers/Cadets) interested in the field of Law Enforcement. John’s passion and devotion of mentoring our youth was instrumental in making NERLEEA what it is today, which is regarded as one of the top programs in the country. It is without question that John shaped the lives and careers of many adults who participated within the program during their youth.
