LANSINGBURGH BOY’S LEMONADE STAND LOOKS TO BENEFIT POLICE

A 10-year-old is open for business in Troy, and it’s all for a good cause.

Johnny MacWhinnie lives in Lansingburgh, and set up shop in front of his home on Third Avenue. Johnny has always wanted to be a police officer, so half of the money he raises is going toward Cadet Post 4102, a group that helps bridge the gap between law enforcement and youth.

Troy police officers got wind of the lemonade stand and came out to support the local business.

“We thrived on the generosity of kids, much like Johnny, doing lemonade stands,” said Troy Police Sgt. Ralph Southworth, who also is the Cadet Post’s lead advisor, “and families and people that actually saw the cadets out there and the good it was doing. We thrived on those donations and that generosity.”

This is the third year Johnny has had the lemonade stand, raising hundreds of dollars for the cadet post along the way.
