Putnam Cadet Performs Life Saving Measures to Neighbor in Cardiac Arrest – Saves Life

On January 7th Cadet Wilder who aside from being a cadet is also a Volunteer EMT for the Brewster Fire Department was notified that a neighbor of his was in cardiac arrest. Upon his arrival at the residence Cadet Wilder found Chief Gregory Austin in cardiac arrest. Cadet Wilder immediately initiated life saving measures on Chief Austin until deputies and EMTs from the Brewster Fire Dept. and Putnam County Sheriffs Office responded to the residence. Chief Austin and Cadet Wilder were able to meet at the Sheriffs Office after Chief Austin recovered at Danbury Hospital.

Cadet Wilder is a member of the NERLEEA Youth Board. In addition he completed the Career Development Program at last year’s Cadet Police Academy on 2022.
